In the middle of the night, a limousine stops on Mulholland Drive. Inside, an elegant brunette (Laura Harring) is about to be murdered when an unexpected accident saves her. Μια όμορφη νεαρή γυναίκα βρίσκεται σε μια λιμουζίνα. Η λιμουζίνα σταματάει στην έρημη οδό Mulholland και ο οδηγός απειλεί την κοπέλα με όπλο. Εκείνη την ώρα ένα όχημα εκτός πορείας πέφτει επάνω στη λιμουζίνα. Η κοπέλα γλιτώνει τη ζωή της, αλλά χάνει εντελώς τη μνήμη της. Χαμένη στο Λος Αντζελες, μπαίνει κρυφά σε ένα σπίτι.
